Updates from Room 201

I want to show you a little bit of what we’ve been up to!

First, you will see our yoga poses.  Each day when we come back from lunch, we will do approximately 10 minutes of yoga and focus on our breathing and stretching so we can be ready to learn.  You will see some of the stretching and then relaxing time for about  2 minutes while laying on the floor.  The students take deep breaths and just relax.  It reminds me of my kindergarten days when we took naps, but I can assure you they aren’t sleeping!! 🙂

Today the students were detectives and went around the room familiarizing themselves with our classroom.  They loved this activity!  The classroom was almost completely silent.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthday Celebrations

Birthdays are wonderful opportunities to celebrate each child in our classroom.  Our classroom wants to honor all of our children by singing happy birthday to each child on their birthday or half birthday. 

We are making a change this year, that we WILL NOT have treats or party favors brought in for individual birthday celebrations. 

We have a better idea!

As a class we will have a birthday celebration of ALL of our birthdays at the end of the school year!  YES! Our class will have ONE BIG birthday party with ALL their classmates! 🙂

If you would like to do something special on your child’s birthday, please consider donating a book or game to our classroom for all the students to enjoy.

In the first week or two of school, I will ask OUR CLASS what books or games THEY would like to have in the classroom for a birthday donation.

If they choose to donate a book or game on their birthday, a label with their name and birthdate will be placed on it along with a HUGE thank you!
