Be You read aloud

I made another read aloud for the you to watch.  I really do miss all of you and I hope this book brings you inspiration to be the unique you that you are.  You are all special and I miss every one of your smiles.

April 20 Updates

Parents, you are doing an awesome job. My greatest concern is that you and your child are healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally. Schoolwork comes second…if you are feeling overwhelmed by something, PLEASE reach out to me and I will be happy to help in any way I can! You all are the real MVPs in this quarantine!

Google Read & Write Tutorial – As we get ready for new curriculum next week, we know that some kids will need extra help hearing assignments read to them and typing responses. Because of this, we have been trained in a tool called Google Read&Write. This is meant to ease the burden on you – if you don’t want to look at it until next weekend’s blog post, no problem! If you look at it and it overwhelms you, no problem! It’s simply meant to be a resource to allow your student to work online more independently.

We tentatively plan to move onto new curriculum NEXT week (Monday, April 27). We are waiting on further instruction and clarification so that we can pass it onto you as it becomes available.

I will create a tutorial this week how download Google Read & Write and get it on your computer.

This Week’s Google Classroom Assignments: I have been SO impressed by how many more kids were participating in their assignments this past week! YAY! Keep it up, parents! The assignments are set up in a very similar format to last week’s 🙂 Here are a few reminders about the assignments/set up of Google Classroom:

The words “Stream”, “Classwork”, “People”, and “Grades” are across the top above the picture.

If your child clicks on “Classwork”, they will be able to see their assignments for the whole week organized by day.

Monday/Wednesday = Math lessons…if your student needs some help with these assignments, email me!

Tuesday/Thursday = Language Arts lessons

Friday = Social Studies

Please do not feel overwhelmed looking through them all. I know some of you like to see everything ahead of time, so they are all available to view or work through. If that is overwhelming to you, take it a day at a time…and as always, if an assignment is not working for you and your family, you make the call on whether to complete it or not!

I know that some of you will want more than the suggested 30 minutes of work these Google Classroom assignments offer.  I put some home resources at the top of this page.  Your child can also log into Study Island.  **I’m not exactly sure what your child’s screen looks like but they can get into assignments without me assigning them.  Look for “MI Programs,” then click 3rd grade.  You should then have the option to click Math (Common Core) or ELA (Common Core).

I really hope all of you are doing well.  I look forward to seeing everyone on Zoom this week!!
